What is a Healthy BMI Range and Why It Matters

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple screening tool that uses your height and weight to estimate body fat. While not perfect, it provides a useful starting point for assessing health risks.

BMI Categories

  • Under 18.5: Underweight
  • 18.5 - 24.9: Normal weight
  • 25 - 29.9: Overweight
  • 30 and above: Obese

Limitations of BMI

BMI does not distinguish between muscle and fat. Athletes may register as overweight despite having low body fat.
